Achieving esthetic excellence as well as functional stability for patients with inappropriate overbite/overjet is a common, yet challenging, task that dentists face every day in practice. Anterior teeth often have significant wear due to their malposition and/or functional pathway. In many cases, it is impossible for a dentist to restore these teeth unless orthodontics is performed first. This lecture will illustrate the importance of interdisciplinary interaction between the restorative dentist and orthodontist when treating adult patients with overbite and overjet discrepancies.
- Learning Objectives:
Understand the relationship between functional pathways, overbite, and tooth wear
Diagnose and treatment plan patients with pathway wear
